Availability of Draft for Comment- Draft Letter Request for Air Monitoring Modifications in Akron and Canton, OH


October 9, 2026: Ohio EPA is requesting U.S. EPA approve changes to Ohio’s air monitoring program in Akron and Canton, OH. Specifically, Ohio EPA is requesting to relocate the North HS (39-153-0026) site located at 985 Gorge Blvd., Akron to a nearby location. This request is being made due to building construction that will not allow Ohio EPA continued occupancy of the North HS site. For Canton, Ohio EPA is requesting to discontinue the Republic Community (39-151-0025) lead site. There is another lead monitoring site in the area that will continue to operate.  The Republic Community discontinuation is being requested to allow for monitoring resources to be allocated more efficiently.


Ohio EPA will accept comments on this draft request through Monday November 9, 2026.
